Box Wine on the Fox 9 Morning News with Sommelier Leslee Miller!
This morning on the Fox 9 morning show, The Buzz, we took a look at a number of great BOX WINES (yes, box wine!) from around the globe.
Taking a first hand look at box wines globally, where they’ve been, where they’re going and what’s best!
From Spain, Portugal, Italy, Australia to the United States – these are some great buck-for-buck picks from its section.
In case you missed it, here’s a ‘behind the scenes’ look at the segment with the cast!
And as promised, here’s a list of the wines I showed along with a few of my favorites from the section:
Viña Borja Garnacha, Spain $24
Jack Tone Red, California $23
Jack Tone White, California $23
Irreverente Red – Dão, Portugal
Brown Box Chardonnay, Washington $21
Brown Box Riesling, Washington $21
Brown Box Cabernet, Washington $21
Gato Negro Malbec ~ Argentina $22
Lindemans Pink Moscato ~ Australia $18
Duca Garganega/Pinot Grigio ~ Italy $15
Duca Cabernet/Corvina ~ Italy $15
Big House ‘Cardinal Zin’ ~ California $22 (these guys make a slew of other varietals as well in box, all really solid!)
I do think many of these are a GREAT BANG for your BUCK considering that you’re getting 4bts from each one of these 3L boxes!
Personally, I’m a big fan of the Viña Borja, the Irreverente, the Ducas & the Big Houses – but, enjoy many of them.
In addition, here’s a list of some other really good ones in the market:
Banrock Station (they make a number of varietals – Chardonnay, Shiraz, etc.) ~ Australia $23
Black Box Cabernet (they make a few other varietals as well, this one is my fave from their book) ~ California $23
Wineberry Box ~ France (Every year these guys make a white & a red. They’re a bit more pricey, but I really like them. Plus, they come in a super cute reusable wooden box!) Price between $40-$48
French Rabbit (They make a number of varietals from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir to Merlot) ~ France *Sold in a 1L Tetra Pak $9

Thank you for doing this segment!!! Love following your blogs
Can you name some places in MN that sell some of the box wines you’ve recommended? I’ve tried several different places, but only ever see Black Box, Bota Box, and sometimes Big House.
Thanks!!
Thanks Sarah! I would recommend Solo Vino (Chuck has a great section there), and Elevated in South Mpls off of Hiawatha to start. Both have really nice, built up sections with a majority of the wines I’ve listed here in my blog. Good luck! #clinkclink
