Join me for the evening, as I pair wine to each of the following movies! This event is open to all Amusée fans. Just call the club to reserve your spot today.
Hundred Foot Journey
The Hundred Foot Journey, starring Helen Mirren & Manish Dayal, is an enchanting tale centered on an Indian family who moves to France and opens a restaurant across the street from a Michelin-starred French restaurant. Come enjoy a ‘passionate affair’ of cuisine as we feature foods from the movie that includes the Michelin-starred famous Boeuf Bourguignon, coupled with delicious seafood bisque and a handcrafted grapefruit pink peppercorn sorbet. And of course, exquisite French wines for sipping as if you were on this movie set!
Sideways
“If anyone orders Merlot, I’m leaving, I am NOT drinking any (expletive) Merlot!”
Well, we say…come drink Merlot and of course, celebrate one of the central coast’s most notable grapes, Pinot Noir, as we taste through a tantalizing line up of dishes and boutique wine selections from the movie ‘Sideways’. A movie that directly increased Pinot Noir sales in the U.S. by 200% and was a result of Merlot sales dropping by 80% over ten years ago, is one of the most iconic food films out there. Sample foods from the movie’s famous ‘restaurant scene’ that include: Baked Brie with hazelnuts, Hand Rolled Ravioli with Mushrooms and Ricotta and an Antipasto salad for nibbling. Indulge in a line up of highly allocated wines that will have you wanting to rent the movie this weekend!
Chef
A film about a chef who loses his restaurant job and starts up a food truck in an effort to reclaim his creative promise, while piecing back together his estranged family, starring Jon Favreau, is one of the most entertaining ‘food’ movies we’ve seen recently. Enjoy the ‘Chef’s’ famous Cubano Sandwich & Yucca Fries while enjoying an assortment of perfect wines for pairing.
Ratatouille
Ratatouille, starring Remy, a provincial rat with a wonderful sense of smell, hates garbage and risks death to enter a human kitchen where he discovers real food and the cooking of five-star chef, Anton Gusteau, is absolutely one food film for the books! Naturally, we’ll enjoy the movie’s notable Ratatouille, while we savor fantastic boutique French wines paired to the cuisine.
Chocolat
Chocolat takes place “once upon a time” in a French village where utter tranquility has reigned since time immemorial, until “a sly wind blew in from the north”(Vianne, played by Juliette Binoche) comes to open a chocolate shop in the village, after which nothing was ever again the same. Vianne’s chocolates contain magic ingredients like the foods in “Like Water for Chocolate,” and soon her shop is a local healing center. Her charming, yet unrefined, co-star, Johnny Depp, falls under her spell and the movie, well…is left up to chocolate. Taste through a variety of delectable chocolates and other sweets, as we pair a sweet, yet savory pairing of wines to suit their flavors for the movie’s occasion.
