Valentine’s Day Wine + Chocolate Pairings
Happy Valentine’s Day, folks!
If you missed my segment this week on The Jason Show on Fox 9, here’s what you missed…
Wine + Chocolate Pairings! Okay, truth be told — wine, liqueurs and vermouth all paired to chocolate.
Here’s the segment! And, in case you’re headed off to your favorite bottle shop for these goodies, I’ve created a list of the pairings I showed below.
Here’s a listing of the pairings I recommended:
Stonewall Kitchen’s Rasp/Peach jam over dark chocolate paired to La Bohème ‘Festejar’ sparkling Gamay from France
Other sparklers to consider (in general) for pairing to chocolate: Gruet sparkling rosé ~ New Mexico, Lambrusco, Port, sparkling Moscato (Elio Perrone ‘Bigaro’ from Piedmont, Italy is the sparkling rosé one I showed — Moscato blended with the grape Brachetto)
Don Ciccio Walnut Liqueur paired to Kowalski’s milk chocolate sea salt caramels — Chardonnay I showed was ‘Butter’ Chardonnay from California
Vermouth from Spain paired to Vosges Mo’s bacon chocolate bar
Don Ciccio Espresso Liqueur paired to Theo cherry almond dark chocolate
Lastly, the fancy boxed bon bons were from local, Twin Cities producer, J.Kumari. I paired Broc Cellars ‘Love Red’ to the chocolatier’s Varansai Chai bon bon and I paired Chateau Montelena Zinfandel from Napa, California to the chocolatier’s toasted coconut bon bon
