#SommelierSips
Sorry for the delay here, folks! I’m a day behind on our weekly Wednesday #SommelierSips post. However, with ALL of the wine homework I put forth yesterday (tasting from 11am – 10pm!), I’m locked and loaded for a TON of really cool new wines to give you! Keep your eyes peeled for tomorrow’s #VittlesandVino post, as I’m pairing a MN Wine to a recipe for your weekend fun!
This week’s #SommelierSips is probably one of THE most delicious Pinot Noirs I’ve tasted in a long while. Brought into the state by fabulous small distributor, Amara Wines, this Pinot will turn you into a true PinotPhile before you know it! I love, love, love this wine.
The wine: Joseph Swan ‘Cuvée de Trois’ Pinot Noir ~ Russian River, CA
My notes: One of THE most enjoyable Pinot Noirs I have had in months! This Pinot screams Russian River with notes of juicy, juicy raspberry Smucker’s jam and bright eucalyptus. Hints of rosemary, licorice and fried sage waft from the glass, leading you to explore the deep earthy notes beneath its unctuous fruit jar. The palate is encapsulating and just down right, sexy! I’m not one to buy cases of one wine, as I believe there are too many wines to explore in the world to hang on to one, but this one…just might become my new house staple.
Pairings: I’m telling ya, a pan seared duck breast with a cherry compote, or even roasted pork tenderloin with a fig marmalade would be amazing to this wine. An aged bandaged wrapped cheddar could also do the trick if you’re into eating artisanal cheese and bread for dinner, like I am.
Price point: $32 – Knock it off! One of the best #buckforbuck wines I have had in a long time!
