It’s a ‘Judgement of Paris’ showdown!

 We’re coming up on the 40th year anniversary of one of the most famous wine events in history, The 1976 Judgement of Paris!

May 24th marks this momentous occasion as the international event that recognized American Wines amongst some of the world’s most coveted sips.  Is there a better way to mark this 40 year anniversary than by reenacting it?

Join us:  April 13th from 6:30-8:30pm @ The Cambria Gallery on 7th for our very own ‘Judgement of Paris‘ showdown — this time, you be the judge!

Sommelier, Leslee Miller, welcomes long time friend and colleague, Nicolas Giraud, Wine Director / Manager of Meritage, St. Paul for this very interactive international tasting featuring a live showdown of blind wines.  It’s a ‘smack down’, if you will, between two of the world’s most coveted wine growing regions, the United States & France.

You be the judge in this engaging event, as Leslee and Nico lay out a blind tasting of regions, showcasing a variety of wines from each country.

Pick your favorites via ballot, and in the end see which producers and countries are revealed as the winners in each category!

Want to learn a little more about this world famous event?  The Paris Wine Tasting of 1976 or the Judgment of Paris was a wine competition organized in Paris on 24 May 1976 by Steven Spurrier, a British wine merchant, in which French judges carried out two blind tasting comparisons: one of top-quality Chardonnays and another of red wines (Bordeaux wines from France and Cabernet Sauvignon wines from California). A California wine rated best in each category, which caused surprise as France was generally regarded as being the foremost producer of the world’s best wines. Spurrier sold only French wine and believed that the California wines would not win.
